Construction Project Engineer

We are looking for a highly motivated design/build engineer who is passionate about the construction process to join UniFirst.

The Construction Project Engineer will be responsible for managing engineering design, construction, budgets, and schedules. They will supervise construction activities on-site and will work closely with the Architects and General Contractors through all phases of the project from beginning to end. The Construction Project Engineer will need to have a firm grasp of both engineering and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate information between engineering, outside consultants, city officials, and plant management if an operating facility
• Ensure that general contractors and subs are completing acceptable quality work and according to construction documents
• Visit sites regularly and document with pictures and progress updates
• Design general plant layout and equipment layout and coordinate plant production design with engineering departments
• Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan while scheduling changes, and recommending actions
• Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems to ensure all deadlines are being met
• Act as the owner’s representative on new construction projects and be the first point of contact with the Architect and General Contractor
• Demonstrate a high level of personal responsibility and make sound decisions
• Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, culture and mission

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in the area of specialty: Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or closely related field
• Minimum of 3 years working in a related business environment
• Travel up to 70% of the time (Nationwide). Minimum 50%
• Excellent collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to work efficiently with a team
• Proficient in AutoCAD (3D Rendering program or other design software helpful)
• Ability to identify and resolve complex issues, manage multiple tasks and provide quality work
• Computer Skills: proficiency in using MS word, excel, outlook, and MS projects.
