Responsibilities

UniFirst First Aid + Safety is seeking a reliable and hardworking National Fire Protection Program Manager to join our community. As a National Fire Protection Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading the growth of the fire safety and suppression business line on a national scale. This role oversees fire service location logistics, inventory, fire-specific purchasing, and vendor relations, ensuring production efficiencies and meeting financial and customer goals. The Manager acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), trains field teams, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local fire safety codes When working with UniFirst First Aid + Safety we provide a variety of shifts. Our standard is a 5-day work week, enjoy two days off a week. We have an immediate opening and provide on the job training.

What you’ll be doing

  • Work with regional and territory leaders to meet financial, customer, and operational goals nationally.
  • Analyze production processes to improve efficiency and ensure standard operating procedures are followed in fire safety service facilities.
  • Understand federal, state, and local fire safety codes (e.g., NFPA 10, NFPA 101, CCR Title 19).
  • Collaborate with authorities to ensure compliance for fire safety programs, including inspections of extinguishers, suppression systems, sprinklers, backflows, lighting, and alarms.
  • Manage logistics and inventory to ensure availability of materials for fire safety services.
  • Oversee purchasing of fire extinguishers, suppression components, sprinklers, backflows, lighting, and alarms, negotiating with vendors to secure favorable terms.
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure timely delivery and quality.
  • Act as an SME on fire safety regulations, training field teams (FSS, TMs, SMs) to comply with NFPA 10, US DOT hydrostatic testing, and other standards.
  • Collaborate with other SMEs to develop best practices and standardize training programs.
  • Provide technical expertise at client meetings, audits, and events (e.g., NAFED conferences).
  • Develop a comprehensive Fire Safety service program, including procedures for training and operations. o Conduct NFPA 10 and US DOT hydrostatic testing certification courses for technicians.
  • Train Field Service Specialists (FSS), Territory Managers (TMs), and Sales Managers (SMs) to sell and service fire safety solutions.
  • Travel 50% of the time to support training and ensure consistent standards nationwide.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment to support the Fire Safety Department’s success.
  • Identify trends to improve department performance and operational efficiency.
  • Grow customer base initiatives to expand fire safety services and client retention.
  • Complete required reports on performance, compliance, and training.
  • Participate in weekly department review calls to discuss progress and strategies.
  • Work with the Business Development Manager to align initiatives with growth goals.
  • Work with the national sales team to promote fire sales and attend/assist with national account fire sales meetings as needed.
  • Stay current with industry advancements through continuing education.
  • Collaboration and Communication
  • Work with sales, operations, and purchasing teams to align strategies with business goals. o Partner with Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) to support sales efforts by FSS, TMs, and SMs.
  • Meet regularly with leadership to discuss goals and outcomes.
  • Use iPad, laptop, or other devices for communication and coordination.
  • Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 to manage and update sales opportunities.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • High school and/or GED equivalent is required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum 5+ years in logistics, operations management, or fire safety services, with experience managing national operations.
  • Minimum 3+ years in the fire safety industry, with expertise in extinguishers, suppression systems, sprinklers, backflows, lighting, alarms, and compliance.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record is required.
  • Experienced in building and growing remote teams and team members
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the country.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • NFPA 10 Certification for Portable Fire Extinguishers.
  • US DOT Hydrostatic Testing Certification.
  • Commitment to ongoing education in fire safety.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
