2504754The Training Utility, reporting to the Training Coordinator, supports the development and implementation of employee training programs by assisting with the creation, review, and updating of training materials, ensuring ISO policy compliance, and maintaining accurate training records. This role involves supporting onboarding, conducting coaching evaluations, identifying training gaps, and collaborating with various departments to develop work instructions.
The Training Utility fosters a positive training environment, promotes UniFirst's values, monitors training effectiveness, provides guidance to trainers, and maintains a safe training environment. Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.

Functions of this position may require occasional internet access and regular use of UniFirst E-Mail. This will require annual review and acceptance of UniFirst’s; electronic Record Retention and Internet Policy; Understanding and compliance with the Company’s Statement of Corporate Policy and Code of Conduct (The Code of Conduct) as well as the Electronic Records Retention Policy and Electronic Records Usage Guidelines.
Travel, within and outside the United States may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct trainer and deliver coaching evaluations to ensure adherence to performance standards.
- Collaborate with various departments and shifts to develop and maintain comprehensive work instructions.
- Ensure the accurate completion and maintenance of training records.
- Support the Training Supervisor in implementing training and deliver coaching programs and initiatives.
- Foster a positive and productive training environment.
- Act as a major advocate for the UniFirst brand, promoting its values and standards.
- Review and update training documents and materials for accuracy.
- Identify gaps in the training program and implement improvements.
- Document and coach new hires and low performers, developing actionable plans (e.g., SMART goals) to track growth.
General Responsibilities:
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve training processes and outcomes.
- Assist in the development and implementation of training materials and programs.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of training programs.
- Provide support and guidance to trainers to ensure they meet performance standards.
- Maintain a safe and organized training environment.
Qualifications:
- Must meet performance, accuracy, behavior, and attendance metrics.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Passionate about providing an excellent training and coaching experience.
- Previous experience in a training or distribution center environment is a plus.
- Positive attitude and self-starter.
- Computer literacy and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university; or one to three years of training or other production management; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong skills in planning and scheduling.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, to comprehend and write general business correspondence, interpret internal production documentation, equipment manuals, technical bulletins, container labels, MDS, and other written internal documentation. Ability to communicate and respond to questions from management, staff, and customers.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and percent. Must be able to interpret bar graphs and charts
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- This function my require standing, walking, or performing other functions within the Production floor, at 1-2 hour intervals. Employee may be exposed to moderate to loud noise. May be occasionally exposed to fumes when traveling through other work areas. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) may be required when working in or traveling through other designated work areas.
