Operations Supervisor – UniFirst First Aid + Safety

UniFirst First Aid + Safety is seeking a reliable and hardworking Operations Supervisor to join our family. As a Team Partner in the Production Department, you will oversee incoming and outgoing operational workflow, inventory control, and internal execution of fire protection services.This role ensures products and materials are received accurately, stored properly, and distributed on time while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance standards with the expectation that applicable fire protection rules, laws, and standards are understood and followed.

This is a hands-on leadership position that supports operational efficiency and team accountability within the facility and requires the supervisor to become the subject matter expert in the fire protection industry, its regulations, and legal requirements before driving execution. Our standard is a 5-day work week, enjoy two days off a week. We have an immediate opening and provide on the job training.

Compensation: From $61,950 - $86,000 annual salary dependent on experience and skills!

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations & Workflow

· Oversee intake, internal processing, and release of fire protection service work and materials].

· Maintain consistent workflow within operational departments using defined procedures and standard work.

· Ensure all service jobs are staged, completed, documented, and released accurately and on schedule, only after required procedures and regulatory steps are satisfied.

· Coordinate with internal teams to ensure predictable pickup and delivery timelines.

· Assist with picking, packing, and shipping as needed to support operational demands recognizing this is not a shipping role, but an operational leadership role supporting workflow execution.


Inventory & Materials Management

· Inspect incoming products to confirm accuracy and identify damages.

· Confirm proper labeling and assign/update bin locations for inventory using 5S principles where applicable.

· Maintain organized inventory areas and accurate stock counts with an emphasis on standardization and visual control.

· Participate in weekly cycle counts and quarterly reserve counts.

· Ensure correct parts and materials are available prior to job execution based on the technical and regulatory requirements of the work.

· Assist with reordering coordination to prevent shortages or overstock.


Quality, Safety & Compliance

· Ensure all work meets company standards and applicable regulatory requirements including California State Fire Marshal (Title 19) and DOT 49 CFR requirements.

· Perform quality checks and audits on completed service work prior to release to ensure accuracy.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready facility.

· Enforce all safety policies and procedures without exception.

· Follow applicable operational guidelines (SOPs, safety policies, compliance standards).

· Take personal ownership of learning fire protection laws, codes, and standards and applying them to daily operational decisions.

· Apply continuous improvement thinking to reduce errors, rework, and variability.


Team Leadership & Support

· Provide day-to-day direction to warehouse and operational team members.

· Set clear expectations for workflow, productivity, and quality with accuracy, consistency, and compliance taking priority over speed.

· Support onboarding and cross-training initiatives including training on procedures, standard work, and regulatory expectations.

· Address workflow issues promptly and escalate concerns when necessary.

· Foster a positive, team-oriented environment focused on accountability and consistency.


Communication & Reporting

· Communicate operational issues proactively with leadership including compliance risks or process gaps.

· Track and report basic operational metrics such as order accuracy, backlog, and workflow delays to identify improvement opportunities.

· Collaborate with Customer Service, Scheduling, and other departments to resolve discrepancies.


Qualifications

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Experience in warehouse, distribution, production, or service operations preferred.

· Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred.

· Ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, etc.) as required.

· Basic computer proficiency; experience with inventory systems preferred.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to stand, bend, reach, and work on feet for extended periods.

· Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

· Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

· Demonstrated ability to learn and apply the fire protection industry’s rules, laws, and standards as a core requirement of the role.

· ADD: 5S, Lean, or Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt, Green Belt, or higher) is a strong plus.


Work Environment

· Fast-paced warehouse/shop environment.

· Hands-on role requiring regular movement throughout the facility.
