The Total Rewards Specialist is a member of the Total Rewards team working under the general direction of the Strategic Benefits Manager – North America. The Total Rewards Benefits Operations Specialist is the subject matter expert in all company benefits. The Total Rewards Specialist drives all benefits operations and ensures efficient execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and ensures the Team Partner experience in the benefits capacity
  • Partners with Sr. Benefit Specialist to complete benefits compliance tasks and audits
  • Ensures compliance with legal and legislative changes for leave program policies, procedures, plan documents, and benefit summaries.
  • Researches and recommends process efficiencies for the department
  • Works closely with or Benefits Administration vendor to ensure timely resolution of employee issues
  • Performs monthly benefits orientations
  • Processes weekly, monthly and ongoing department processes
  • Administers leave of absence and disability programs, including FMLA, STD, LTD, and Worker’s Compensation
  • Administers life insurance, retirement and other company benefit plans
  • Work with 3rd party leave administrator as necessary to coordinate the leave process, discuss decisions that may need to be made, ensure benefits letters are being sent out, monitor return to work dates, paperwork, etc.
  • Partner with Employee Relations team on escalated LOA issues
  • Develops knowledge of current benefits practices, emerging trends, compliance concerns and leave management laws
  • Manages 3rd party unemployment vendor
  • Partners with Benefits analyst to ensure integrity of our internal data
  • Ensures compliance with applicable state and federal employee benefit laws and regulations including, but not limited to, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, as well as applicable IRS and DOL regulations
  • Assists in the preparation, review and timely distribution of various participant disclosures including but not limited to Summary Annual Reports, Notice of Privacy Practices, Summary Plan Descriptions, Summary of Material Modifications and Annual Funding Notices
  • Assists in annual open enrollment project management
  • Explores areas for improvement across all programs, introduces ideas for new programs and ways to enhance existing ones

Qualifications

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is required, PHR, SHRM-CP, CEBS certification a plus
  • 2-3 years of experience in Human Resources; experience in Benefits and HRIS is highly preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and HR technology (PeopleSoft experience is a plus)
  • Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) to all levels in the organization
  • Travel as necessary
