The HR Generalist - Support Services performs duties at the professional and administrative level in the following functional areas: Employee Relations, Employee Engagement, Training, Communications, Compensation, Compliance, Safety, and administration.
Responsibilities:
- Promotes practices to drive alignment and consistency, where applicable in the culture and employee experience within the organization.
- Serves as a liaison between assigned business units and Shared Services, HR teams.
- Coordinates benefits administration and wellness programs including leave benefits (I.e., FMLA, military, parental & STD), wellness fairs, open enrollment, and 401k for assigned business units.
- Manages and facilitates new hire onboarding activities including all pre-hire activities such as background checks and welcome communications, welcome orientation, and engagement throughout the first 90 days.
- Partners with team managers to create employee engagement initiatives and events following guidelines from the engagement team (Founder’s Day, employee recognition, service awards, etc.)
- Promotes and provides guidance on company policies and procedures and escalates to the employee relations team as appropriate.
- In conjunction with the employee relations team, assists with workplace investigations and provides guidance on disciplinary actions at location, and other locations as assigned.
- Partners with team managers and HR shared services on employee development and job training.
- Works with HRBPs to support team managers with the interpretation and review of annual and ad-hoc compensation market guides and helps develop action plans accordingly.
- Point of contact for all work-related injuries and partners with the risk and HR groups for the ongoing claim and leave of absence administration.
- Maintains employee files and records in electronic and paper format.
- Maintains legal compliance for location (I-9’s, affirmative action, workforce, and benefit administration).
- Performs exit interviews and maintains data for quarterly reporting.
- Performs quarterly employee pulse checks.
- Member of the Safety Committee.
- Supports other business units and projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
- Three years of increasingly responsible experience as an HR professional.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State human resources laws and regulations and ability to understand company policies and procedures.
- Ability to travel to the Shared Services/Massachusetts, and other UniFirst locations throughout the country.
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to communicate policies and other business information effectively and meaningfully with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Must possess a "Can-Do" attitude and be a self-starter on daily projects.
- Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; HRIS systems, PeopleSoft is a plus.
