Management Trainee - Operations and Leadership

WHAT IS THE LEAP PROGRAM?
This is a full-time 18-month Leadership Development Program for high potentials seeking a career in management. Once accepted into this high-touch program, as a cohort you will rotate through four operational cycles within the organization including Service, Production, Sales, and Business Management. Throughout each cycle, you will learn the department from the ground-up while being trained by our managers to learn how to become management!
Throughout the duration of the program, you will gain hands-on experience, be exposed to a blend of leadership education through classroom and experiential learning and partake in action learning projects that directly impact the business. You can also expect to participate in weekly meetings with the Program Manager to receive feedback, mentorship, and personalized development. Additionally, once per rotation the cohort will reconvene at a UniFirst training location for an in-depth understanding of our history, core values, and culture while learning from Executive Leadership.

A self-starter, with a desire to embark on the start of a successful career in leadership. A team player without a doubt, you also find that you have a knack for leading. Not one to shy away from a challenge, you’re focused on broadening your skill set, while continuing to learn and grow both personally and professionally. The three adjectives you would use to describe yourself are smart, hungry, and humble. Did we mention it doesn’t hurt to be adventurous? Willingness to relocate is necessary!

WHAT WE OFFER:
Upon successful completion of the program, you can expect an offer of full-time employment in a variety of entry-level to mid-level managerial roles at any of our 250+ locations in the United States and Canada. These roles may include but are not limited to; Production Manager, Assistant Production Manager, Stockroom Manager, Route Service Supervisor, Route Service Manager, Sales Manager, Office Administrator, and more!
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Through on-the-job training, coursework, and observation, you will learn the function of each Team Partner’s role in their operational area. Your training will maintain a focus on developing the skills to manage, motivate, and successfully lead the teams within Service, Production, Sales, and Business Management.
SERVICE ROTATION: A customer-focused organization, you will learn what it means to be on the front line of UniFirst! Acting as the face of the organization, you will interact with and handle customer needs directly. You will be exposed to key functions within the Service Department and develop necessary skills to motivate and guide a Service Team. While helping to lead a team, you will ensure that Customer Service systems are implemented and executed.
Production is where the process and the people come together! As the heart of UniFirst’s operation, you will find Production has the majority of individual contributors who handle the industrial laundry processing. During this rotation, you will learn solutions to key challenges in leading and managing a large and diverse group of UniFirst Team Partners.

A crucial aspect of our organization, sales is vital to our overall growth and success. During your time in the Sales Rotation, you will be taught the necessary skills to lead, inspire, and motivate sales professionals.
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT ROTATION:
This rotation will provide a unique insight and comprehensive understanding of how UniFirst’s facilities function on the operational, financial, and managerial side. You will learn core managerial competencies, while being taught all the aspects of running a successful facility. Business Management focuses on leadership skills and how to communicate company goals to Team Partners to reach desired results.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
- 1-2 years of practical work experience through full-time or part-time employment, co-ops and/or internships
- Degree from an accredited college or university
- Must be 21-years of age or older
- Willingness and flexibility to relocate
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
- Must have a valid Passport
- Physically capable of carrying and lifting up to 80 lbs
- Ability to travel; Business travel during the program may average 20%
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with business applications
- Smart, humble, and hungry
